Maybe one of the benefits of reaching the point as a society where sex is so commonplace and over-exposed is that the physically simple —- yet emotionally profound —- act of taking hold of someone’s hand can be absolutely overwhelming.

Anyone can give up; it’s the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it...

Today started out, and mostly was, so bad.
Restless, anxious, uneasy. One of THOSE funks, you know? But then I met somebody special (I think) at work and then somebody special (in a different way) after work, and my day ended on a much, much better note than it started, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to wake up tomorrow feeling like my world has shifted a little bit. In a good way. I hope. I think.
Going purely on instinct with this one....

Now I am quietly waiting for the catastrophe of my personality to seem beautiful again, and interesting, and modern. The country is grey and brown and white in trees, snows and skies of laughter always diminishing, less funny not just darker, not just grey. It may be the coldest day of the year, what does he think of that? I mean, what do I? And if I do, perhaps I am myself again.

8:30 Saturday morning,
and the whole world is asleep. At least, that’s how it feels. It’s cold and windy today, which is unwelcome after the beautiful 70* weather we’ve had lately. It’s also untimely because Cat, Chels and I are going apartment hunting today. I’ve got six more places to check out and then I’ll make a decision. After that, job hunting. Only two months until my big...

Slow Dancing in a Burning Room
It’s not a silly little moment It’s not the storm before the calm This is the deep and dying breath Of this love we’ve been working on Can’t seem to hold you like I want to So I can feel you in my arms Nobody’s gonna come and save you We pulled too many false alarms

Chels: Stephan has good posture. Like a big white chair.
Me: Maybe he's used this season as an opportunity to improve that. Like, gotta spend so much time in the corner, might as well use the glass behind him to practice sitting up straight.
Chels: That's very productive of him. He could use that time for working on other skills, too. Like astral projection.
Me: Or time travel.
Chels: Or mind reading.
Me: Or telekinesis.
Chels: Or Swiss karaoke.
Me: Or Swedish karate.
Chels: Dunno that he could do that without knocking someone out.
Me: Well if he had been practicing his telekinesis also, he could just pop them back up again.
Chels: Great. Now I'm picturing Dallas icing a line of unconscious Stars, being puppet'd by Stephan.
Me: Hahaha. Maybe we could win more games that way. At least they'd be working together.
Chels: Hahaha or they could win by freaky-factor alone. The other goalie sees a drooling, unconscious troop of zombie skaters coming at him and flees his crease.
Me: That game would get to 10-2 pretty fast.
Chels: Stephan would probably get tired pretty fast. And then the Stars would just start dropping like flies.
"Why is everyone unconscious, Tobi?"
"Because I was practicing karate?"
Me: "How many times have I told you? You can't work on your weird skills on the bench unless you can sit absolutely still while you do it."
Chels: And then he travels back in time and nobody ever knows?
Me: Nobody but him, anyway. And now us since we've figured out his secret.
Chels: We must be psychic too.
Should we go up to him and announce that we know what he's been doing all season?
Me: Probably not.

Hockey Humor...
Chels: Hockey should be played with the lights off and spotlights in random places. Think of all the fun shadows!
Me: Hee! That fits in perfectly with Bettman's plan to make hockey "more exciting."
Chels: Hahaha it totally does. This is why I think fans should be allowed to drop bags of piglets onto the ice during game stoppages.
Me: Bags of piglets? Those would be very large bags.
Chels: Or very small piglets. Either way it beats dead octopi.
Me: Indeed. Watching players skating around trying to catch little piglets would make my life.
Chels: Haha that's just as awesome as our idea of players taking their dogs to the ASG.
Me: Bettman really needs to hire us.
Chels: Forget that. We need to replace Bettman.
Me: No I really don't want that responsibility. If we were his consultants, we'd basically run it like puppeteers. You know?
Chels: He'd be the king and we'd be the parliament?
Me: Exactly. So glad we're on the same page.

Two observations.
1. I am happy. Genuinely happy. I wasn’t, during winter, because I never am anymore. Maybe I have SAD but I think it’s more that winter reminds me of Mom being in the hospital and dying and who can be happy remembering that? But now spring is here and I’m back to being happy again. It’s a certain contentness, a certain relaxed state of mind. How do you describe happy?...

Hey!
Just realized that technically, I’ve made out with a Brit. This pleases me greatly.
I mean - obviously it’s not like I forgot about making out with him. It’s just that for some reason it never clicked that he’s, you know, British. And therefore if I had thought to add “make out with a guy with an accent” on my life to do list (which I wish I had), I could now...
